Bill Tracking

Health Coverage by Nonprofit Agricultural Organizations

SB 480 by Sen. Nick DiCeglie (R - Indian Rocks Beach)
HB 497 by Rep. JJ Grow (R - Inverness)

This week, SB 480 made remarkable progress as it easily passed off the Senate floor with strong support. We are thrilled at how seamlessly this bill passed through the Senate, thanks to the exceptional leadership of Sen. DiCeglie, who has been instrumental in advocating for much-needed resources for our state’s farmers and ranchers.

Meanwhile, the House bill has also made impressive strides, unanimously passing its final stop in the House Commerce Committee, a testament to Rep. Grow’s hard work. We look forward to it being presented on the House floor soon, as we continue to push forward with this vital legislation. The momentum is building, and we are excited for what comes next.

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) - Florida Farm Bill

SB 700 by Sen. Truenow (R - Tavares)
HB 651 by Rep. Tuck (R - Lake Placid)

This week, HB 651/SB 700 made significant strides in both chambers. The House bill passed its third stop in the House Agriculture & Natural Resources Budget Subcommittee, continuing its momentum toward becoming law. The Senate bill is now on queue to be heard in the Senate Fiscal Policy Committee, its third and final stop and we are optimistic about its path forward. The bill remains focused on key provisions essential to supporting our agricultural community, including clear labeling to prevent consumer confusion and ensure that products mimicking others are properly distinguished. A standout provision allows agricultural producers to build housing for their legal employees on agricultural property, addressing the urgent need for workforce housing. Additionally, the bill seeks to secure the future of agriculture by enabling the department to sponsor dues for 4H and FFA students, fostering the next generation of leaders in the industry. We extend our sincere thanks to the bill sponsors and Commissioner Simpson for their leadership in addressing these critical issues and ensuring the needs of Florida’s agricultural community are met.

Ad Valorem Tax Exemption
SJR 318 by Sen. Keith Truenow (R - Tavares)

HJR 1215 by Rep. Alvarez (R - Riverview)

This week, HJR 1215 was presented by Rep. Alvarez in the House Housing, Agriculture, and Tourism Subcommittee, where he emphasized the critical importance of supporting Florida’s farmers. Rep. Alvarez highlighted how this bill represents a vital step toward removing a burdensome and senseless tax from the backs of some of Florida’s most essential businesses. With just one stop left in the House and two remaining in the Senate, the bill has garnered significant support, including strong backing from Commissioner Simpson. We deeply appreciate the leadership of Rep. Alvarez, the bill sponsors, and Commissioner Simpson for their unwavering commitment to addressing this critical issue and advocating for Florida’s agricultural community.
